FanDuel Acquires MLBPA License: A New Phase of Collaboration
The MLB Players Association (MLBPA) has selected FanDuel as its new product and marketing licensing partner. The agreement covers the U.S. and Canada and allows the operator to use MLB player IP for integration into its platforms and marketing.
FanDuel, already a "co-exclusive" partner of MLB in Canada, is now expanding its rights to use names, likenesses and other product elements. MLBPA CEO Tony Clark emphasized that the agreement helps create new opportunities for players and diversify the association's revenue.
The partnership was made possible after the MLBPA settled a lawsuit accusing FanDuel of unauthorized use of player data. Meanwhile, the case against other operators, such as DraftKings and Bet365, is ongoing.
FanDuel continues strengthening its position in Canada with deals with the NFL, CFL, Maple Leafs and Raptors.
