Alberta's first Play Alberta app launches as a sportsbook, with iGaming expansion planned for 2025.

AGLC has launched its first Play Alberta mobile app, currently focused on sports betting with markets on over 50 sports and leagues. Available for Apple and Android, the app offers enhanced security and will eventually include online casino games and more in 2025. 

According to AGLC EVP Steve Lautischer, the app aims to improve mobile sports betting in Alberta, with plans for iGaming integration. Play Alberta, celebrating its fourth anniversary, saw increased activity during the Edmonton Oilers’ playoff run and will use the app to strengthen its market position against unregulated operators.

This strategic move positions AGLC to enhance user experience and maintain a competitive edge in the evolving gaming landscape.
