October 2024 marks New York’s highest-ever sports betting handle of $2.3 billion.

New York State recorded a record $2.3 billion in sports betting in October 2024, the highest in state history, according to the New York State Gaming Commission. This figure surpasses the previous $2.11 billion set in November 2023. This is an increase of $300 million from last October when New York became the first U.S. state to record $2 billion in monthly betting.

However, gross gaming revenue (GGR) fell 14.9% to $176.3 million in October, driven by high player winnings at the start of the NFL season. Despite this, state revenues were up 5.8% year-over-year. Since the start of the fiscal year (April-March), total betting volume has reached $12.5 billion, and the state is likely to surpass last year’s record of $19.6 billion.

FanDuel led the way in October with $907.6 million in betting volume and $77.3 million in revenue, although that was down from September.
