Playtech Says Spectrum Report Raises Evolution Compliance Concerns

Playtech has highlighted compliance concerns involving Evolution after a Spectrum Gaming report was made public as part of an ongoing legal dispute.

Evolution commissioned Spectrum Gaming to review allegations made by intelligence firm Black Cube. Playtech had hired Black Cube to investigate Evolution's activities, including claims that its games were available in prohibited and sanctioned markets.

According to Playtech, the Spectrum report confirmed that Evolution's games were accessible and generating revenue in several prohibited locations, including Hong Kong, Singapore, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

However, Spectrum said it did not believe Evolution had engaged in illegal practices. The report also rejected allegations involving cash payments and the availability of Evolution games in sanctioned countries.

Playtech argued that Spectrum could not fully assess some claims because Evolution did not provide all requested information. This included data that could have shown whether gaming sessions took place in Iran, Syria and Sudan.

The report also raised concerns about Evolution's monitoring of customers and its handling of virtual currency risks.

The findings come after the UK Gambling Commission reached a £4.75 million regulatory settlement with Evolution in August 2026. The regulator had found that Evolution games were available through several unlicensed operators in the UK.
