Transparency and reforms: GCB denies allegations of licensing violations.

The Curacao Gaming Authority (GCB) has issued a statement defending its legitimacy in issuing gaming licenses and detailing new reforms under the National Gambling Act (LOK).

The GCB notes that it has formal authorization to issue licenses, which the Minister of Finance granted in March 2020. According to the November 2023 update, the jurisdiction can modify, suspend or revoke licenses. Current licenses will be adapted to the new LOK standards, with operators given a year to comply.

The statement also explains the multi-step licensing process, which includes document verification, business plan assessment and operator website verification. The GCB denies allegations of possible misuse of funds, noting that all payments go through a government account.

The new rules also provide for mandatory alternative dispute resolution to protect players. The authority is also considering integrating artificial intelligence to optimize operations.
