Discover new fundraising possibilities with 50/50 raffles – more winners, bigger prizes, greater impact!

On September 20, 2024, the AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) amended the 50/50 Charity Lottery rules. From now on, organizations can hold 50/50 lotteries based on the principle of "Split the winnings", which allows dividing 50% of the prize fund between several winners.

Previously, 50/50 lotteries involved an equal distribution of the proceeds between the charity and one winner. Now, in the new version, organizations can determine several winners, which must be clearly stated in the rules of the draw.

Charities wishing to run a 50/50 raffle must obtain the appropriate license and state in their application that they will be using the "Split the Winnings" format. Tickets can be sold in Ontario in both paper and electronic form.

This update provides flexibility and expands fundraising opportunities, supporting innovation in the sector.
