Anjouan Strengthens Gaming Licence Rules After FATF Risk Report
Anjouan Strengthens Gaming Licence Rules
Anjouan has strengthened gaming licence conditions and application requirements following FATF findings on gambling and financial crime risks.

Anjouan's gaming regulator has tightened its licensing framework following a new Financial Action Task Force report on risks linked to gaming and gambling.

The regulator said licence conditions have been enhanced and application requirements strengthened to match evolving global anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards. Anjouan's gaming regulator explained:

In light of the report's findings, we've enhanced our licence conditions and strengthened our application requirements to stay aligned with evolving global AML/CFT standards.

The FATF report, published on September 9, 2026, highlighted money laundering risks linked to casinos, sports betting and online gambling platforms.

It also pointed to risks connected with platforms using cash, e-wallets, mobile money and virtual assets, particularly where transactions can be fast and anonymous.

The report further noted links between gambling platforms and social media that may be used for illegal advertising, recruitment of money mules or terrorist financing.

Anjouan previously clarified that its internet gaming licences are issued under the framework of the Autonomous Island of Anjouan and do not provide universal permission to operate in every country.
