theScore Bet’s success in Ontario sets the stage for ESPN Bet’s U.S. growth.

PENN Entertainment CEO Jay Snowden noted that theScore Bet’s experience in Ontario over the past 3 years has become a kind of model for the development of ESPN Bet in the US. He spoke about this in a recent report for the third quarter of 2024.

According to Snowden, Ontario is 12-18 months ahead of the US in development. All the trends observed in Canada are also appearing in the States. In particular, the integration between the ESPN and ESPN Bet applications, tested in Canada, has been successfully launched in the US. This synergy allows users to place more bets, increasing profit volumes.

PENN is also studying the prospects for development in Alberta while waiting for the decision of regulators. The company seeks to repeat Canada’s success in the parlay segment: in Ontario, their share is more than 30% of the total betting volume, which significantly exceeds American indicators.

As such, PENN sees the potential for ESPN Bet to scale by leveraging theScore Bet’s proven strategies.
