AGCO discovered violations in NorthStarBets.ca's geolocation tests during an audit.

NorthStar Gaming has been fined $30,000 by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) for a geolocation violation. The operator was accused of failing to identify a test device that attempted to access the Ontario-only northstarbets.ca website as being located outside the province.

NorthStar operates two websites under the NorthStar Bets brand. The .ca site offers AGCO-licensed gaming and online betting, while the .com site is operated by the Abenaki Wolynak Council and licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, providing services to Canadians outside Ontario.

AGCO discovered the violation during a proactive assessment conducted by testing physical locations in Quebec and New York. NorthStar was also accused of failing to provide data to the regulator promptly. AGCO has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the legality of gaming in Ontario.
