Minister suggests renewed discussions with First Nations and operators.

At last week’s Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, Alberta Services and Red Tape Reduction Minister Dale Nalley did not give a specific timeline for creating a regulated online gaming market in Alberta. However, he did share his vision for the process and ongoing negotiations.

Nalley joked about his role in reducing red tape while emphasizing the need for regulation. He stressed that his goal is not to reduce regulation, but to reduce duplication and unnecessary procedures.

Nalley is looking to stimulate the market by engaging grey market operators. He believes incentives and education are a better approach than harsh penalties.

Nalley also reiterated the importance of engaging First Nations in the process, as the province sees them as partners in gaming solutions.
