The training completed the first part of a two-year education agreement.

Canadian Premier League teams participated in the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) program, which aims to educate players about the interaction between sports and gambling.

Designed by IBIA using the "3Rs" model, the program combined in-person training with online resources. The Professional Football Association of Canada (PFA Canada) delivered the sessions as part of its "Protecting the Game of Integrity" seminars.

In total, nearly 200 players from eight teams were trained. The program began in Ontario and concluded in Alberta, also covering teams in Nova Scotia, Manitoba and British Columbia.

This is the first part of a two-year agreement between IBIA and PFA Canada. The program is funded by a $300,000 fund provided by IBIA and its members, bet365, Betway and FanDuel.

In addition, players were taught betting rules, how to recognize corruption, and how to report crimes through a special app.
