British Columbia withdrew from the Ontario lawsuit, easing the province's efforts to boost its iGaming market.

The British Columbia government has pulled out of a lawsuit in Ontario to decide whether residents can legally participate in online fantasy sports, poker, and other games with players outside the country.

Earlier this year, Ontario took the issue to the Court of Appeal to clarify online betting and gaming rules. Initially, British Columbia was approved to join the case but has now chosen to step away.

The lawsuit focuses on a key part of Ontario's iGaming market — fantasy sports and poker — which have seen a decline since the market's launch.

British Columbia had planned to show how international players negatively affected their gaming market, but now the case will only move forward with their involvement. This makes it easier for Ontario to improve its online gaming competitiveness.
