Big Changes Ahead: Northern Lights Casino to Expand in Prince Albert

Explore Northern Lights Casino’s expansion plans, which are designed to enhance the gaming experience and support regional growth.

The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) and Northern Lights Casino are gearing up for major expansions to boost the gaming experience and drive regional economic growth. The project is scheduled to begin in late September 2024 and is expected to be completed by 2026.

The expansion will add 31,000 square feet to the casino in Prince Albert on the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation. Key upgrades include:

  • An enlarged gaming floor with new high-limit slots
  • An expanded smoking room
  • A revamped front entrance
  • Upgraded food and beverage facilities (a new sports bar, restaurant, deli, and floor bar area

SIGA President and CEO Zane Hansen emphasized the need for growth: “With Northern Lights Casino being one of the busiest locations, it’s clear that expanding is essential to meet visitor demand and boost the regional economy.”

The expansion was unveiled at a ceremonial event with stakeholders from SIGA, Northern Lights Casino, and local First Nations communities.

Even during construction, the casino will stay open and fully operational, maintaining its status as a top Saskatchewan destination.
